A Ray of Hope.
World unity has benefits. Through peace, understanding and cooperation, we can all work together to utilize available resources which will lead to a stable economic development and create the desired world we want.
World unity is needed but it is possible only through love and compassion which we should practice.
World unity is affected by our actions, good or bad. What we see today is a world divided by barriers and filled with violence and tension and it seems we’ve done only bad. Unfortunately we live today in this world to feel the pain of this situation.
We are too corrupt and think only in terms of self benefit. This attitude should change for the better. We should start thinking for others as well.
We are living in a world of violence, tension and hatred. So our main aim should be to remove all the factors that led to world division. In this, we need to join in a global effort
We have come closer economically, socially, politically and religiously also.
Opportunities do not come with their values stamped upon them. We must be patient and give an opportunity to the people of other countries to create the world unity with other countries of the world through their own ways
However, we also cannot ignore significant changes in the attitude of world unity. There have been many efforts to bring the world closer and this is mainly done by the students of the world. They have brought the world closer through their small efforts. People have also formed various organizations which are based on world unity. These organizations have also done their parts in encouraging world unity.
In India, many liberated Indians are encouraging people to discard their belief in the caste system. Also in America, many open-minded people are condemning racial discrimination and are trying their level best to discard the feelings of enmity between people of different races. The newly elected first black president of America represents the flame of hope for the black people of the country and also of the world.
People are also trying their best to clear some mistaken concepts of religions’ teachings to many people through missionaries, television programs, etc. and their efforts have bore fruit lately.
Strength through unity
Unity through faith.
In a survey conducted on the 20/03/2009, we took the public opinions on the importance and needs of world unity and the problems regarding world unity. Their responses are given below:
"World disunity in India is mainly caused by communalism. Also uneducated people, especially from faraway areas like villages, don't know much about the importance of unity. Caste system which is also still prevalent in urban areas such as cities contributes to the problem.
Innocent people are often judged on action of others and are shunned by the world. For example, when we are talking about terrorism, not all people are terrorists but, still, they shoulder the blame for terrorists' actions and get condemned."
Devosmita Das, student.
"To unite people, we should understand their problems and cooperate with them. There should be understanding between nations of the world."
"There should be unity in spite of differences among communities in the world, especially in a country like India. The problem lies mainly in the different mindsets of people. Lack of education also indirectly becomes the cause of disunity."
"Boutroz Ghali once mentioned that peace is silent, so it is hardly reflected in the media.
I have to say the same for unity. Unity very much exists in this world. What we need is to discover it rather than unveiling it to the world. We can try this by talking about it and spreading the word as well as by endeavors of students."
"World unity is very important, especially in these trying times. It is essential because only when there is unity that world leaders can deal with issues concerning the whole world in general, rather than the interests of individual countries. World unity implies an existence of understanding among nations of the world. This understanding brings peace and prevents the occurrence of war, which would otherwise drain a nation of its financial and other resources. These resources could instead be used by nations to achieve social and economic development which would further bring about peace and unity."
“Without world unity, we will face each day without hope and we will constantly be exposed to world disorder.”
