There are many different types of bicycles. Some are used for recreation, sporting, fitness, and distance racing. Some of the different types include:
- Utility Bikes- These bikes are built for comfort, are wide, have a heavy weight, and in most cases, have a basket on the front. This is a traditional bike.
- Mountain Bikes- These are designed for off-roading on rough terrain. They have durable frames, usually are light weight, have good suspension and thick wheels for good traction.
- Racing Bikes- This bicycle type has a lighter weight to it and is made for competitive racing/speed. Also, it has thin tires and gears.
- Track Bikes- They are built for indoor racing, it has gears, and no brakes.
- Touring Bicycles- These are built for long distance rides. Therefore, they primarily are built so the rider is comfortable. They have luggage racks and bags so the rider can be even more comfortable.
- Recumbent Bikes- These are also comfort bikes. The rider is seated in a reclined position in a non-aerodynamic fashion.
- Hybrid Bicycles- These bikes are a blend of mountain bikes and road bikes. They are sturdy, go fast, are comfortable, and can be ridden on trails or pavement.
