Renaissance

After the Middle Age, and the darkness of the time, the discovery of a new world in America brought a new conception of science and arts, as well as different ways of expression. It also emerged as a new literature, which shall remain nowadays (although on a smaller scale).

But the literature does not paint for a uniform and dogmatic flow, but had different trends that gave a novelty at that time; between these trends are: the idealization of reality, including within it the man his surroundings. Furthermore a critical realism. The Renaissance, will run mostly in Italy.

With the major changes in politics, society and culture, kings and nobles came to the rescue of art, encouraging artists to make works of all kinds, helping to protect the painters, sculptors, writers... Appearing the middle class in social classes, people began to see the art and enjoyment like something indispensable for high society.

Then comes a humanist mindset, which preserves the idealistic vision of Greeks and Romans about man, nature, and aesthetics, above. The man becomes the measure of all things, because the “revival” they handled was religious too and it was also meant that many dogmas should be reconsidered. The intellect is preserved, and this is what is defended on the outside. Since that time was a search to find the classical world, they began to adopt the language, history and philosophy of it.

They preferred the prose and had the dialogue as a priority, there is a powerful influence of the discovery of America over the thinking of the authors, it was not uncommon to find descriptions referring to the New World in their works.

The knowledge of the classics brings new genres and topics, while it becomes easy and smooth.

It was not until the sixteenth century that humanists ideals declined due to political and religious conflicts that occurred in Europe.
