Sexism

Sexism is the discrimination of gender. Sexism was a very big problem in history and still exists today. Usually a male is sexist to a female but it can be the other way around also. An example of someone being sexist is say there are some boys and girls playing at a park. Then a boy decides to play a game but he doesn't let any girls play just because they are different.

             Sexism started a long time ago but the term “sexism was created recently.. The religions of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Confucianism all have produced cultures in which males rule. Before the 20th century all types of rights were only available to males. For example women could not vote they had limited rights to property and were usually subject to their father or husband.

             During the 1960’s the largest women’s rights movement took place. In 1963 a journalist named Betty Friedman wrote a book called The Feminine Mystique which challenged the notion that women could only be mothers or wives. In 1964 race discrimination in employment was band and the EEOC was set up to enforce the law. Then after that debate unexpectedly legislator amended a bill that banned sex discrimination in employment. After the EEOC ignored many charges of sex discrimination in employment women created th National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966. Betty Friedman led the organization, which urged to end sexism.

             In 1972 the congress passed the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) which provided equal rights for both sexes. That was the goal that man people had been trying to achieve for decades.

             Though that amendment outlawed sexism it didn't stop it. Sexism still exists today even if its just rude comments towards a different sex but if we all work together to end it we just might be able to put an end to sexism.

 

 

El sexismo es la discriminación de género. El sexismo es un problema muy grande en la historia y todavía existe hoy en día. Por lo general, un hombre es sexista a una mujer, pero puede ser al revés también. Un ejemplo de alguien que es sexista decir que hay algunos niños y niñas jugando en un parque. A continuación, un niño decide jugar un juego pero no dejar que ningún juego niñas sólo porque son diferentes.
             El sexismo se iniciaron hace mucho tiempo, pero el término "sexismo se ha creado recientemente .. Las religiones del cristianismo, el judaísmo, el islam, el hinduismo, el confucianismo y todas las culturas han producido en la que los hombres regla. Antes de que el siglo 20 todos los tipos de los derechos disponibles únicamente para los hombres. Por ejemplo, las mujeres no podían votar tenían derechos de propiedad y por lo general sujetos a su padre o marido.
             Durante la década de 1960, el mayor movimiento de los derechos de la mujer se llevó a cabo. En 1963 un periodista llamado Betty Friedman escribió un libro llamado The Femenine Mystique que en tela de juicio la noción de que las mujeres sólo podían ser madres o esposas. En 1964 la discriminación racial en el empleo y la EEOC banda fue creada para hacer cumplir la ley.              A pesar de que la enmienda prohibido el sexismo no detenerlo. El sexismo sigue existiendo hoy en día, incluso si su justa comentarios groseros hacia un sexo diferente, pero si todos trabajamos juntos para poner fin a lo que sólo podrían ser capaces de poner fin al sexismo.
