Paula Radcliffe ran the marathon in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and came very close to winning gold. “Maybe the Olympics just weren’t meant to be for me this year, but I still have another bite at it in me yet,” she said about her performance in Beijing. She was born in Northwich, Great Britain. In 2003, she broke the world record for the women’s marathon with a time of 2:15:25. Radcliffe has also broken many other world records including the 10km and 20km road race.
Rachael Nachula competed in Beijing and collected no medals but many viewers said her performance was astounding. She was born January 14, 1990. Lolo Jones was born on August 5, 1982 in De Moines, Iowa. Currently living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she graduated from LSU (Louisiana State University) in 2005. Jones states, “I can’t believe how crazy I’ve been with so many speaking engagements and so much media interest, especially considering I never even won a medal in Beijing.” She did, however, come incredibly close.
