There are 3 ways of stating ratios. x/n, x:n, and x to n. Pardon my algebra. Like if I say there are 50 trees, and 25 of them are apple trees you might want to know how many apple trees there are to total trees. If so, there are 25 apple trees:50 total trees or 25:50 which can be reduced to 5 apple trees to 10 trees. That can be reduced to 1 apple tree to every 2 trees.
