There are a few films that are based on the Japanese samurai. Like in anime/manga, history and fighting style are usually portrayed in film, like "Kill Bill" and "The Last Samurai." There is a cliché of Japanese culture depicted in American films and how it affected the Japanese residents. In the film "Kill Bill" directed by the famous movie director Quentin Tarantino, the idea of Japanese Samurai is very vague. He chose to use the element of swords; however other aspects of Japanese Samurai were overlooked. The culture of Japan is basically non-existent in the film. Another film that depicts samurai is "The Last Samurai". In "The Last Samurai", a white man is taken “hostage” by a group of samurai, so that the samurai can learn more about the enemy from the white man. A few would say that the movie portrayed a pseudo Japanese Samurai culture. Other films are "Seven Samurai" and "Yojimbo." These are only a few of the many films that have been based on Japanese samurai.
