Handball is a game disputed between two teams of the 7 players each. This game appeared for the first time in our country in the city of Sibiu in 1922 under a form quite unusual today. When the handball appeared in our country, each team was composed of 11 players, as the football and play on a field the same as football. After 1928 it established a women's team handball. In the year 1926 is borrowed from Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia a different type of handball called "Hazen", which is played at first only by women, and the teams were composed of 7 players.

This sport is played with a ball round, smaller than the football field on a rectangular length of 40 m and width 20 m, divided into two equal parts to the line center. At each end of the land is a gate width of 3 m and 2 m height. In front of each gate is a space enclosed by the gate line 6 m, which forms a semicircle, which can act only the goalkeeper. At 7 m away from the gate is a line of 1 m where run shot from 7 meters, equivalent to the penalty in football. At 9 m distance from the gate is another alpha dotted line drawn where free kicks are executed.

The 7 players from a team are divided in 6 field players and a goalkeeper. On the game sheet may be past, but 12 players, 5 of them were reserve players who can replace the field at any time of the game. The six field players are divided into:
- spike
- inter (left or right)
- extreme (left or right)

Players a team must have different color of equipment by the effects team, and the goalkeeper should have different color to distinguish it from other players of the team.

To win, a team must score as many goals in gate effects team during the regular game. A handball match consists of two by 30 minutes of play with a 10 minutes break between them. On half of each game plus a few minutes for an extension if the referee deemed appropriate.
Unlike football, handball is played with hands. The players were allowed to touch the ball with any part of the body, with less leg from knee down, which is not allowed under any circumstances. The only player who makes an exception to this rule is that the doorman can use any part of your body to defend the gate.

Each match is handball led by 2 Judges, help on the edge a secretary and a stopwatch. Here a player can be removed during a final match if it accumulates 3 deletions of 2 minutes. For a fault more aggressive player may be sanctioned by an arbitrator removed 2 minutes or yellow card. For a faul particularly serious, the player is sanctioned by the red card. When a player is inside the semicircle fault delimiting the space of the gate, the team has a shot at 7 m. If the fault occurs outside the gate of the team has a free shot from 9 m. Free kicks are awarded when the player makes the team effects steps, that meens he makes more than 3 steps with ball in hand.

In time, handball has evolved, and until today were organized numerous competitions at both national (The National Championship) and continental (The Carpats Trophy, Champions League, European Handball Championship) and world (World Handball Championship, Olympic Games). As the football World Handball Championship is the most important competition in the world, and Champions League is the most important competition at the continental level.
