New Developments

In the past few decades casual and abrupt changes have all taken place in the Bollywood Dance industry. With more than seven hundred films produced each year, obvious changes have been illustrated in the costumes and make up departments with much more colorful creativity. The females have decreased the amount of clothing worn and the males have increased their bodies being exposed much more vividly. Whether these changes have been subtle or abrupt, can only be known on watching endless numbers of movies, and that has actually become a trend in the Asian population. Watching these dances in the films have become a common past time with more adolescents enjoying movies with their friends and families. Sadly, these new developments have made the elders upset, as the industry has become more sexually explicit with their dance movements and rhythms than what the dancing used to be at the beginning of the era. The older generation believes that the experience should be educational, as well as entertaining, but the youngsters only see it as entertainment. One thing that the teens do learn from the dancing and movies is being more provocative and blasphemous.

The styles of clothing, attitude, movements and facial expressions learned from these dances have become so commonly used in public, that these new developments don't seem as new anymore.
Other new developments seen in Bollywood dancing has been flashy accessories such as cars or technology that had not been used in the past dancing scenes. Before the dancing steps and the background scenery had been simple but as time went on, people started to be creative with the context of the song, which changes the meaning of the song. Also dancing directors or choreographers have started to choose specific people for the dance numbers because the actors or actresses are able to express the emotion better during the song than an average artist. Even though these are just some of the new developments seen in the dancing of the film industry, there have been numerous more which sometimes do not endure into the future decades.
