On this website you will learn about preserving local history. What if no one preserved your local history? What do you think would happen to your town? If you think it doesn’t really matter, think again. It’s important to know our local history because we can learn from our mistakes. Sometimes our local history holds the key to our future.
Our website was designed for ages 10 and up. People all around the world have there own history. Our history isn't more important to us than your history is to you. We all have our own heritage. Our website is important because it will help you learn that all local history is important and we need to protect it. If someone is responsible for preserving your history they should have a disaster plan.
Our team wanted to help save an old blacksmith shop in our town. The Nystrom blacksmith shop was built in the 1820's. The Nystrom building isn't structurally safe and is currently unoccupied. The owner of the Nystrom building wanted to turn it into an educational center. Our team decided to adopt this project. We will have more information about this project on our website.
Our team also decided to help the Historical Society in Orange, Massachusetts. Our team visited the Historical Society. During our visit, we looked at pictures of Orange from the past. While we were there we learned that our Historical Society stores most of our towns historical photos. We also learned that these photos have never been scanned and saved to CD. Our team offered to help. You will also find out more information about this project on this website.
