Engineering - Millennium Force

Do you like going on roller coasters? If you do then I have one to talk to you about.  It is called the Millennium Force. It’s not the fastest roller coaster or the tallest, but one of them.

The Millennium Force is a steel roller coaster. It is located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Millennium Force stands 310 feet tall and overlooks Lake Erie. When the Millennium Force was built in 2000, it was the only roller coaster over 300 feet high. It is also the first roller coaster with the cable lift system instead of the chain lift. It was voted number one steel roller coaster. There have been three very similar roller coasters in the last seven years. The Millennium Force is still one of the most popular roller coasters, even though it is not the tallest or fastest roller coaster.

The layout of the ride goes like this. You get into the cart you are sitting in. Then once everyone on the cart is ready the cable lifts you up 45-degree hill lift at 15 miles per hour going up 310 feet. After it reaches the top it drops down 300 feet and over at an 80-degree angle, with a speed of 93 miles per hour.  After that it goes over a right over banked turn at 122-degrees. From a horizontal axis. Then it passes right through a tunnel and travels over a 182-foot parabolic hill.  Once it is done with that it goes to the Millennium Island, while on the island it goes over a 150 feet hill at a 360-degree angle, which provides a moment of airtime. Then after a few more turns it exits the island. After that is goes through a tunnel and then to the exit. When you stop it is jerky with magnetic brakes.

These are some of the records it has received.

Even though the Millennium Force isn’t the tallest roller coaster anymore it’s still popular. The Millennium Force is one of the greatest roller coasters.
