Ethical problems.

Our technical development is growing faster and faster. New inventions are being made doctors are researching cures for diseases we thought they were incurable. But these new inventions might help our society to grow but still there are opponents against this kind of grow. The problem which we are facing is the ethical side. The Hippocratic oath is an important part of ethics. Simply said he Hippocratic oath states that no doctor or physician is to harm any living creature as a result of his/her practices. But the problem here is what do we define as a living creature? A very clear example of this stem cell research. People who are strongly against stem cell research see embryo’s as living creatures who already have a soul and who deserve to be treated like a real person. People who are in favor of stem cell research however, don’t see young embryo’s as living creatures. They see them as a ball of cells. The discussion between these parties goes on and on and the only questions that has to be answered is: What do we define under a living creature? This question may look easy, but it is actually one of the most difficult questions that can be asked. That is because it is a subjective question. Everyone has another vision. This is off course not the only ethical questions. But it is the most important one. When there is an international agreement of the definition of a living creature. A lot of things will be clarified. And our medical development will depend on the answer of this question.
