Present time
Before plunging into the future it is worth taking a look at the time we are living in and at the issues of today. Many global problems are very difficult to solve and thus might be carried on for years on end. Another interesting aspect of the present is health care, since it has reached a point were curing illnesses is no longer enough.

Our capitalistic system is the best way to take advantage of the human nature in economy. However, that also carries a flip side, which is not as positive. Globalisation plays an important role in the world, with differing effects.

Although it was at first denied, it seems near impossible to not take into account our enviroment if we want to make it to 2059. These are many global issues which can't be easily solved, but are critical problems which require attention.

Our medical system is certainly a very sophisticated one. It has however taken a good amount of human effort to get to where we are now, and the end is not yet in sight.

As the amount of deadly illnesses goes down, the health care system takes a look at the possibilities. Many new ambitions such as genetics raise important ethical questions which make us wonder whether we should go down that road.
