This section shows a technical development that we think will be one of the technical developments of the next 50 years according to daily life. The development i'm talking about is the development of the Mobile phone. Mobile Telephony is already very important now, people can be contacted more easily. In 2059 this development will have made great steps. It will be very personal, better protected, they'll come in all different shapes and in the future you can use your mobile phone to do a lot of important things, for instance pay your bills, get on the internet, and ofcourse you'll still be able to call with them. In the future mobile phones won't be a luxurious good anymore but a basic need in life.

How do technical developments affect our daily life?

Mobile Telephony has expanded enormously in the past few years. Almost everyone has a mobile phone and they can be contacted at almost any time. Today there’re even families which only use a mobile phone and don’t have a land line any more.
How do mobile telephones affect our daily life? Because of the rise of mobile phones people can be contacted more easily and this is contributing to worldwide globalisation. Our world is becoming smaller and smaller and the mobile phone is one of the big factors which is helping this phenomena.

How will the mobile phone develop in the future?

Mobile phones are becoming all-in-one devices. Camera, Internet, GPS, are all included features.
People are demanding even more on their phones. But what do people want more? They want as much as possible. Producers of mobile phones are doing what ever is possible to satisfy their costumers. Some examples of what we will see are build-in projectors in mobile phones and in China a company has already made a mobile phone with a build-in shaver.
The mobile phone of the future will be very personal and contain al your personal information
from your medical files to your judicial files. The mobile phone will know everything about you.
PIN-codes will no longer exist and your phone will be secured by means of an iris scan, fingerprint reader or even a DNA scanner, so stealing a mobile phone will have no use anymore.

The shape of the mobile phone will also change. There will be no more candy bar or clamshell shaped mobile phones. Mobile phones of the future will have the ability to shift shape and adjust to your mood on that specific moment. They will be interactive and ask you questions.
Mobile phones of the future will also have no physical buttons anymore and will have a touch screen with a high resolution and haptic feedback.

In the future you can use your mobile phone to pay and check your bills. Going on the internet with your mobile will be affordable for anyone in the future and there will be a special software which the banks will offer for your mobile with the intention that their costumers will be able to pay their bills and to check their account on their mobile phone.

So as we see the mobile phone will become extremely multifunctional in the future. It will replace lots of things for example your agenda, shaver and hee, it may even replace your secretary but something in me keeps telling me that secretary’s cannot be replaced by mobile phones...

So what does this mean. It means that the mobile phone will no longer be a luxurious gadget but a basic need in your life. It contains all the important information about your situation but also the environment you’re living in.
