This part of the website shows 2 newspaper articles on the issues of global environmental and energy problems. The first article is about the burning of fossil fuels in 2009 and that the fossil fuels are about to run out. The second article is about fossil fuels in 2059, and that they have almost run out, and there isn't any benefit from using them anymore.

Fossil fuels not as positive as we first thought.

We are using more and more fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are the most important sources of energy in the world. Yesterday a study was published, which contained some new evidence about fossil fuels. Which proved that the use of fossil fuels also has side effects. First of all it was proven that the damage done to the environment is bigger then we first thought. Secondly the study proved that the holes that are left behind when the fossil fuels have been taken out, can cause landslides. Because of these landslides the houses in the neighbourhood can be damaged. The last thing proved was that the fossil fuels will run out in the next three or four decades. So we have to be careful using to much energy generated by fossil fuels. Or we have to increase the use of the other types of energy.

Fossil fuels don’t bring an economic benefit anymore.

We already knew for quite some time that fossil fuels would run out in the near future. At this moment we still have some fossil fuels under the earth’s crust, but it is economically seen as a disadvantage to take them out. First of al this is because the proportion which still is there is relatively small. So you lose more money getting the fossil fuels out of the ground then you win by selling them. Another reason for this is that the tax which you have to pay for the energy of the fossil fuels is so high that the amount of buyers have decreased. The third reason is that a lot of  people don’t want to use the energy of the fossil fuels anymore. They don’t want to harm the environment. A lot of the energy made by fossil fuels have already been replaced by other types of energy. So we can keep on going.
