This was created to help adults, kids, swimmers, and divers learn about sea safety! This page will teach you about the dangerous animals of the Atlantic Ocean! (The number beside the name of each animal is its danger rating!)
Sharks - 7
Sharks are BIG on the Sea Dangers list! If you are swimming and see a shark (even a nurse shark) turn around and swim away, perferably towards shore or a boat. When you reach shore tell a lifeguard or nearby swimmers that a shark is in the area! Sometimes other fish are mistaken for sharks, so there are many false alarms! Even with that said still swim to shore when there is a shark alarm! Some sharks aren't as dangerous as others but they all can do harm if they want to!
Jellyfish - 5
Many people think they are very scary but some don't think much of them at all! Really you should think a little bit about them because their sting could give you a disease or even kill you! Just like sharks some jellyfish are harmless! Anyway, steer clear of jellyfish if see one!
Sting Rays- 6
Most people don't think about sting rays, but be careful. They bury in the sand and if you step on one it HURTS and you will have to go to the hospital. To avoid this from happening, shuffle your feet in the sand so it stirs it up. That way if there are sting rays in the water they will be startled and swim away before you step on them. Don'tworry sting rays don't attack people. |
