Hens
are farm birds which are in many sizes and colours. There are many types of
hens they are farm hen, wild hens etc. Wild hens live in the jungles in Asia. Wild hens can fly up to 20 above the ground. At
night wild hens fly in to the tree to save them from the danger. Hens will be
very friendly. When they see the humans they think they will be given food to
eat. Female is called hen. She lays six eggs and she sits on them till they
hatch. (For 21 days). Male is called roosters. Roosters are bigger than the
hens and they have larger cobs. They have more colourful feathers. Babies are
called chicks. Cheeping sound was made by chicks. They learn how to eat from hens. Hens live in the pens.
Hens can’t fly too far even though they have wings. Plenty of space in needed
for them to run around. They don’t like when their body is dirty, so they comb
with their beaks. They are kept for eggs and meat. One hen can lay about 200
eggs in one year.
