Darata was the great and well known King of Ayodya.His wives gave him two sons, His wife Kasulya gave birth to rama and Sumitrowati to Laksmana.

Once Upon a time, as The King was ill suffering from incurable abces, came a girl to cure him by swallowing his disease, her name was Kekayi.As the reward, she became one of the King’s Wives.Later on, she gave birth to a son named Barata.

Rama and Laksmana went on a journey to The Kingdom of Manthili. , The King of Manthili Kingdom was Prabu Janaka.He had a pretty daughter, her name was Shinta. Prabu Janaka held contest to found husband for Shinta. Finally,Rama succeeded in winning the contest and married Shinta .

Back in Ayodya, Rama as the eldest son, and being already married, was entitled to be crowned as The New King of Ayodya.Unfortunately, Kekayi was opposed to that decision.She reminded The King that he had once promised her that the crown would be given to her son Barata, and that his other son would be exiled in the forest for 14 uears.But Barata couldn’t accept the crown in these conditions, so he offered the crown to Rama.But Rama refused and gave sandals to Barata as a sing of authority in order that Barata could legitimately rule over The Kingdom of Ayodya.

To fulfill Dasarata’s promise to Kekayi ,Rama , Shinta and Laksmana left Ayodya to live exile in The Forest of Dandaka for 14 years.

In The forest of Dandaka, they met wit Rahwana The King of Alengkadiraja Kingdom,he wanted Shinta very much to be his wife.Then, he told Marica( his servant) to changed herself into a deer and kidnapping Shinta.

Shinta saw the fake-deer,but it wasn’t look like an ordinary deer but it was beautiful golden deer, then she asked Rama to caught the deer for her. Finally, Rama accepted and he ordered Laksmana to watch over Shinta.

After waiting for a long time, Shinta was getting worried because Rama didn’t come back yet.Then Shinta asked Laksmana for looking for Rama.But,Laksmana didn’t want leave Shinta alone.Shinta was very offending to wards Laksmana, questionning his loyalty with words that were hurting him deeply, and threatening that she would die if he didn’t go after Rama.Finally,Laksmana accepted it , but before he left shinta,he made a magic-circle in the ground around shinta to protected Shinta from evil.

Rahwana knew that shinta was left alone in the Forest. He tried to kidnapped her, but he failed, because of magic circle. Then he changed hisself into a very old man begging for something to drink .Shinta felt pity to him then Rahwana or the old man succeeded grab Shinta out of the magic circle , and flew away with her.

Meanwhile, Rama got that deer.But, the deer turned into a giant, so they were fighting.Laksmana arrived at that place and told Rama to came back and met Shinta.Then, together they hurried up yo join Shinta as soon as possible.

On the way to Alengka Kingdom, Rahwana and Shinta met Garuda bird whose name was Jatayu. He is Prabu Janaka’s friend. He knew that Shinta was kidnapped by Rahwana. The fight broke out between Jatayu and Rahwana.Unfortunately, Jatayu defeated by Rahwana and injured.

Rama and Laksmana knewthat Shinta disappeared and they decided to found her.Suprisingly, there was a white monkey whose name was Hanoman, he asked them to helped  The King of  Apes, Sugriwa to got his daughter back.Sgriwai was Hanoman’s uncle.Finally, they headed for the cave Kiskendha where they were expected by Sugriwa.

There Rama made a pact woth Sugriwa.The pact specified on one hand, that Rama would help Sugriwo in Killing Subali,Sugriwo’s Elder brother, who threatened over the throne and desire d Sugriwo’s wife,Dewi Tara. On the other hand, Sugriwa would helped Rama finding back Shinta.Rama fought and killed Subali.Rama ordered Hanoman, a brilliant soldier of Sugriwo’s army, to go and search Shinta.

In the Alengkadireja Kingdom, Trijata (Rahwana’s niece) was entertaining Shinta.Rahwana asked Shinta to be his wife, but Shinta dinied it. Rahwana got angry and wanted to killed Shinta. But, Trijata  blocked his, and she swore to Rahwana that she would watch over Shinta.

In the garden,Shinta heard beautiful song which brought by Hanoman.Hanoman told Shinta that he was Rama’s delegate who would set her free.He found out the power of Alengka Kingdom’s army. Then he broke the garden.

Unfortunately, Indrajit (Rahwana’s son) caught hanoman and wanted to killed hanoman, but Kumbakarna prevented it.Finally, Hanoman was verdicted to died by burnt it alive.

But,When they would burn Hanoman.He could ran away and with burnt body he burnt Alengkadiraja Kingdom.Soon, he met with Rama.Then, Rama and Monkeys army attacked Alengkadireja Kingdom.He killed Indrajit on that battle.

Rahwana chose Kumbakarna as the leader of  the army.But, Rama could killed Kumbakarna with his holy arrows.Finally, Rahwana became the leader of his army.Unfortunately, Rahwana defeated by Rama, and Hanoman put Rahwana died body under Sumawana Mount.

After the death of Rahwana, Hanoman brought Shinta to Rama.But, Rama denied Shinta because he thought that Shinta wasn’t pure anymore. Shinta felt disappointed and she wanted to proved her faithfulness, finally she plopped down into fire and burnt herself. Because of her purity and helped by The God of Fire, she wasn’t burn and saved. It made Rama felt happy and finally he approved her as his wife again.

After the victory, Rama, Shinta, and Laksmana returned to Alengka,where Rama became King and ruled over his Kingdom with wisdom
