The Green Goblin’s real name is Norman Osborn. His wife died a year after giving birth and he was left alone to raise his only son, Harry. As Harry was growing up, Norman became more distant and was more involved with his experiments. One day he decided to test an experiment on himself and caused him to receive accidental super powers. Around this time Spider-Man was the hero that everyone loved and admired, he became jealous and decided to stop Spider-Man and finish him off. That is where it all began. All of the Goblin’s hatred and animosity went towards Spider-Man. He fought him on multiple occasions, but was never successful. One way he did hurt him was by killing Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man’s girlfriend. Green Goblin was considered dead for many years after this encounter, but he later returned to try and complete his goal: to destroy Spider-Man.
