The Food Chain:
The zooplankton and algae get energy from the sun. They use the process of photosynthesis to get energy. The coral and other small fish eat the zooplankton and algae. Small animals like the crown of thorns sea star and the parrotfish eat the coral. Larger fish like the bigeye trevally and the lionfish eats the small fish. Even bigger fish like the barracuda eat the smaller predators. The biggest predator, the tiger shark, eats all the smaller fish. The largest predator of all is man, who eats all types of fish. |
10% of the world's diet comes from the coral reef habitat
