Florida

Florida is a state in the Southeast area of the United States. The state is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico to the West and South. It is also surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the East. Florida is the fourth most populated state in the US. "Florida is the oldest European place-name in the US. Florida was named after Juan Ponce de Leon in honor of his discovery. Florida was owned by the Spanish and the French but soon the English and their Indian allies weakened Spanish forces and took over Florida. Great Britain gained power over Florida with St. Auguestine as it's capital in East Florida and Pensacola as the capital of West Florida. This happened in 1763 with the Peace of Paris. Britain tried to import immigrants for labor from Europe but the plan failed. After the project failed, the Spanish regained control over Florida with the help of Americans and offered land grants to anyone who settled in the colonies and many American moved to Florida. On March 3, 1845, Florida officialy became the 27th state of the US. In the early 1900's, Florida economy prospered and more immigrants were coming to Florida for jobs. But soon, natural disasters such as hurricanes and the Great Depression followed by the stock market crashed led its economy all the way down. Its economy did not recover until the buildup of World War II.

Bimini

Bimini is the most westernmost district of the Bahamas. It is the closest island in the Bahamas to the US. Bimini is home to several landmarks that was said to contain magical features of weird origins. Many places have experts on all ends of the spectrum of explanation. One of these places is the The Bimini Road. According to legends of Islanders nearby, the Fountain of Youth should be located near Bimini. Juan Ponce de Leon and his search for the fountain brought him to Bimini. Now there is a small well with a plaque in honor of the Fountain of Youth.
