Chilam Balam is a book that the Mayan scribes wrote, after the Spanish conquest. The jaguar was the symbol for the nobility of the Maya and Chilam Balam means Jaguar Priest, so this was an important book. Most priests, because they acted as prophets, were astronomers. The Chilam Balam said the future. This was significant because the Maya needed to know when to plant thier crops, and do other agriculture. This book was similar to Popul Vuh because the evil gods, of the infraworld, took over and held the world captive.
