The Church
By about 1500, many people began to worry more and more about the many wrong things that were happening among the Church. There were plenty of people who thought that the priests, or Church leaders, were becoming absorbed with making money from the people rather than helping to provide them with otherworldly direction. Since they wanted to raise enough money to maintain their luxurious lives, they began to do many dishonest things. One of these things was the selling of “indulgences.” Indulgences were papers that claimed that you were excused for your sins. This worry is what eventually caused the Christian world to split up and created what is called the Reformation.

Christianity during the Italian Renaissance had many highs and many lows. There was a big decrease in the authority and dignity of the Catholic Church. Many practices were firmly established in older ways of life and living, as well of their ways of thought. These practices were very slow and took a while to accommodate the new ways of life and thought. For a long time, the church was a significant piece of the feudal system, which was situated on loyalty between people with authority, and people who had land from a lord. These people are also known as a bondman or a slave. The Catholic Church had trouble accommodating to the claims of civilization based upon money and not loyalty between people. As the villages grew, the community priests and monks figured out that they did not know much about the needs of the growing business class. Martin Luther was the first rebel to announce his thoughts to the entire world. The German monk broke years worth of admiration and beliefs, and cleared the way for a outbreak in belief. He also helped split the Christian world and promoted the Counter–Reformation.

Petrarch, a scholar, was known as the creator of a new approach of knowledge, Renaissance Humanism. Humanism was a confident and heartening philosophy that saw a man as a balanced and alert person or thing. They also have the aptitude to make decisions and think for themselves. This was an implied refusal of the Roman Catholic Church’s view of spiritual nature as the only real thing, which was then seen as magical and dreamlike. Humanism saw a man as something with good attributes by category. There were three main philosophies that developed during the Italian Renaissance. These include individualism, humanism, and secularism. All three of these hold things that are the same and found in all of these philosophies. This helped to create the main philosophy, humanism. Individualism is the thought that a single person can do more to help their own selves than the government or any other group can. The main idea of civic humanism is that men should have a big say and participate in Florence’s republic. Hans Baron, a German Renaissance scholar, saw the medieval religion as opposing to his republic government and disagreed religion any constitutional rights in the culture of the Renaissance.
Secularism social movement is any movement in the community that is face in the opposite direction from another world to the life on Earth. During the Middle Ages of Europe, there was a great disposition for religious people to not like mortal things that need to be done and to deliberate on God and life after death. As an outcome to archaic disposition, secularism, during the Renaissance period, displayed its own self in the creation of humanism, when other beings in the community started to display their benefit in human beneficial accomplishments and the possible chance of them being fulfilled in this world. The shift in the direction of secularism has been happening since the Renaissance. It is still happening today in modern society. It is commonly seen as being against Christians and against religion. In the second half of the 20th century some people who study theology began to endorse earthy Christianity. They thought and hypothesized that Christianity should not be worried and obsessed only with the holy and the unworldly, but those people should attempt to discover the chance to advance Christian values throughout the world. These learners of theology keep up that the actual definition of the word of Jesus can be found and accomplished in the day to day matters of earthbound metropolitan lifestyle.
