This website is about a very serious topic that affects our world and presents a big moral dilemma for world leaders. That topic is genocide; it has happened repeatedly in history and is affecting people as we write this.
Throughout the history of man, millions of people have been killed because of their race, religion, skin color, or ethnic background. When the killing is done with the intent to wipe out an entire group or population, it is called genocide. In the 20th century alone, approximately 18 million people were the victims of genocide.
On our website, you will learn what the definition of genocide is and where the term genocide came from. We will tell you about instances of genocide in the 20th century and how world leaders reacted to what was happening. We will also tell you what people, even kids, can do to work to stop and prevent genocide.
This website was created for students in grades 4 and up who would like to learn more about the topic of genocide. Please be warned that this is a serious topic and some of the information and pictures may be disturbing or graphic.
