The george cross and george medal
The Param vir chakra(PVC)
The Param Vir Chakra is awarded for most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self sacrifice in presence of the enemy, whether on land or at sea, or in the air. The decoration may be awarded posthumously. It may be awarded to officers and men and women of all ranks of the armed forces.
The military cross
The military cross was instituted during the world war -I n december 31st,1914. Commissioned officers of the army upto the rank of major and warrant officers were eligible. Seventy three IMA alumni have been awarded the military cross.
The Ashok chakra
Ashok chakra is awarded for most conspicuous bravery or some act of daring pr pre - eminent act of valour or self sacrifice otherwise then in the face of enemy. The decoration may be awarded posthumously.
Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal
The Sarvottam yudh seva medal is awarded for distinguished service of the most exceptional order during war, conflict or hostilities, the award may be given posthumously. Two IMA officers have been awarded this medal.
Maha Vir Chakra
The mahavir chakra is the second highest gallantry award awarded for acts of gallantry in the presence of enemy on land, at sea or in the air. Eighty four IMA officers have been awarded this medal.
Kirti chakra
The kirti chakra is awrded for conspicuous gallantry otherwise then in the face of enemy. The decoration may be awarded posthumouosly.
Uttam Yudh Seva Medal
The Uttam Yudh Seva Medal is awarded for distinguished service of an exceptional order during war, conflict or hostilities. The award may be given posthumously.
Vir Chakra
The Vir Chakra is awarded for acts of gallantry in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea or in the air. The decoration may be given posthumously. Two hundered fifty six IMA alumni have been awarded this medal.
Shaurya chakra
The Shaurya chakra is awarded for gallantry other than in the face of the enemy. the decoration may be given posthumously. One hundered and sixty five IMA officers have been awarded this medal.
