King Sejong was born in May 15, 1397 in Seoul, South Korea (Seoul was called Hanyang at the time). He was the third son of Queen Wonkyong and King Taejong. At 12 years old, he became a prince and was given the name Chungnyong. In June 1418, he became the Crown Prince of Korea instead of his older brother.That same year, he became the King of Korea. He was the fourth king of the Choson period. Ruling wisely and kindly, he ruled for more than 32 years and died at the age of 54 on April 1450.
