Liberia is a fairly small country located in West Africa that is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and borders Sierre Leone. Liberia is often compared to states like Tennessee and Washington when it comes to size. Liberia is located at approximately six degrees North and nine degrees West. Being surrounded by water like Liberia is plays a huge role in sea travel. During the Early years of Liberian existence slaves and prisoners of war escaped captivity usually by traveling North.
Liberia has many interesting physical features. These physical features include the St. Paul River, St. John River, Cess River, Doube River, and Mt. Nimba. Most of these bodies of water contribute to Sea Travel and trade. Though the most important body of water near Liberia is the Atlantic Ocean. Many of the elevated hills and mountains like Nimba can be found in the Northeast part of Liberia. Liberia also contains plateaus in the South which are used for things like fertile basins. These basins are used for preserving land area so it can be used in the future for agriculture.
Liberia has a fairly tropical climate. This means that it is mostly hot and humid through the better part of the year. During some parts of the year Liberia can get extreme amounts of rainfall which can be seen as a disadvantage. This is because the heavy amount of rainfall can cause the flooding of crops. As you can see this isn't a great place for agriculture. This is why you can find greenhouses which are funded by the United Nations in Liberia. This why Liberia relies very much on agriculture and business.
Liberia has many natural resources that are traded and bought by other countries. These natural resources can also be used in everyday life. These resources include iron, timber, gold, diamond, and hydropower. This hydropower is used to power things thst can run on hydroelectricity. Liberia is also very efficent when it comes to the uasge of these natural resources. Liberia also is also conscious about the usage and burning of fossil fuels. This why Liberia is one of the few countries that does not need to worry about pollution. Liberia has always been known for its production of jewelry. This is beacuse of the amount of gold and diamonds that are found in the Northern part of Liberia. In fact gold and diamond contribute to most of Liberia's income. Though Liberia is a fairly poor country it gets a solid amount of money from their natural resources.
