Molle DeGrow

Molle DeGrow was a witch who haunted what is now Newark, New Jersey. She loved to make the people miserable. If a neighbor tricked her she would turn their milk sour. When someone actually called her a witch, she would turn their dogs evil and attack them.

One day a new family moved in. Their adult son was greatly offended by her cruel actions with his mother and scolded her for it.

That night an evil black dogs with awful red eyes came out of the woods right in front of his horse! The dog chased the man’s horse as it bolted away; trying to bite its tail and sides. As he hung onto the horses reins he was hit by a low-hanging branch and fell, dead, to the ground.

With a howl of success, the evil dog disappeared in a puff of gross smoke.

After that the people were still forced to deal with Molle DeGrow. And then there was a plague of baby deaths. People quickly realized that the old witch had had a grudge against all of the families who had lost their children.

The people formed a mob and went out to Molle DeGrow’s house to burn her. But when they got there she was already dead; sitting upright in a chair with a smile too horrible to imagine on her cruel face.

In the end they buried her in a local cemetery. Although her ghost continued to haunt the place long after her body crumbled into dirt.
