Habitat- Butterfly fish are found in coral reefs. They are tropical fish, because they live in a coral reef in warm waters. They can be found in both North and South America, Africa, Australia, and some parts of Asia. At night, they go into dark places and easily blend in. Adults defend their territory, while young fish hide in coral for protection. Since they eat coral polyps, their own home gives them food, so they do not really have to search for food too much.
Other Facts- Butterfly fish are not in any danger. They are not on the IUCN Red List, which means that they are not endangered or even threatened.
Butterfly fish are also found swimming in pairs, making a nice sight for divers in a coral reef.
