Welfare - Care Takers

	The Principal of Shastri school, Mr. Radhakrishnan, thinks of only these children all the time. He knows the childhood of each student who took admission into the school. He explained that the school was started in 1994 by the Founder and Chairman Mr. Basavaraj who conducted a survey to find the number of such hearing impaired children in that locality. He chose this place for them as most of them were traveling more than 20 kilometers to attend the special school. His efforts in convincing the Government officials for the permission and procuring the premises gave solace to these children.
Mr. Vijayaraj, the founder and teacher of the Pre University College for deaf and Dumb is a film actor turned philanthropist. He is held as God by the parents of the students studying in this college. He narrated the ways how he got the permission from the Government officials to start a college in the present premises. At present he teaches 3 students- Mamatha, Bhavya and Umesh . Each student has a story to tell about his sad childhood, school education, the way he reached the present class. Mr. Vijayaraj demonstrated through gestures how he handled a question from the English text book.
	We saw dedication, patience and involvement in Mrs. Hema, a teacher in Shastri school for deaf and dumb. She called the young students near the board and demonstrated her lessons to us. In our opinion, she has a right attitude and methodology for teaching these students that they cling to her all the time. A single teacher teaches all day long in the same class and the teacher-student ratio in these schools is 1 : 10
H. Rajashekhar, a Commerce and Accountancy teacher has taken up his profession whole heartedly. He even agreed to work without any salary for these students. He explained to us the way he deals with his students.
	She is R. Jyothi Ramanathan, a sign language teacher in the Pre University College. Her work is to cater to all requirements in the subjects. She complies with all requests from teachers of other subjects. She teaches signs to express the words in the text books prescribed for the Pre University Course.
