The Tailed Jay (Graphium agamemnon) is agreen and black tropical butterfly found across India, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Tailed JayThe male is black with green spots allo over the body in a perticular pattern. The female is similar.

The Tailed Jay is very common in wooded country side with heavy to moderate rainfall. They are swift fliers and can be seen in backyard gardens at low elevations. They are often seen in our school garden at altitude of 7 to 10 meters hovering over Asoka trees.

They are fond of the Lantana flowers and can be filmed only when they come down to feed on necter.

The eggs are pale yellow and takes 3-4 days to hatch.Their life cycle is fast and takes only a month from egg to adult.
