The Old World Swallowtail (Papilio machaon) is a beautiful Papilionid butterfly main found in the Palaearctic regions of Europe, Asia and Himalayas. It is also know to be spotted in North Africa and North America.

This butterfly is a strong flier and frequently pauses to hover over flowering plants to sip necter.

The caterpiller spends its initial days camouflizing as a bird dropping. As the caterpiller grows larger it becomes green with black.
