There are over 17000 known species of butterfly on earth. Classification of butterfly is as follows:

• True-Butterfly (Superfamily Papilionoidea)
• Skippers (Superfamily Hesperioidea) An Example
• Moth-Butterfly (Superfamily Hedyloidea) An Example

Sicne our project focuses only on Butterflies, we are going to study only the Papilionoidea superfamily. The superfamily Papilionoidea comprises of five families:
