The Blue Tiger (Tirumala limniace) is found in India, South East Asia and Australia. It shows migratory behaviour in southern India.

Blue TigerThe upper side of the butterfly is black with bluish-white spots. The butterfly larva generally feed on plants of Family Asclepiadaceae.The caterpillar usually found feeding underside of the leaf.

The adult butterfly feeds on vines Secamone elliptica and Ischnostemma carnosum.  Their pupa is fresh green and shiny with some golden spots.

The Blue Tiger's life cycle revolve around poisons of various kind. The caterpiller feeds on poisonous plants and the poison is carried over to the adults. This poison makes this butterfly unediable.
