HAWAII-The state's landmarki Global Warming Solutions Act of 2007 requires Hawaii to reduce its green house gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. The City and County of Honolulu uses 20% biodiesel fuel made out of vegtable oil or soybeans, burns cleaner. These are usually used in large trucks, boats, and buses. |

ILLINOIS-In 2007, Governor Blagojevich made a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and then 60% of 1990 levels by 2050. A renewable energy standard requiring utilities to produce 27% of their power from renewable resources was made into a law. The state requires all state agencies to buy electricity generated by renewable-energy resources starting out at 5% then increasing to 15% by 2020.

INDIANA -Indiana wants to find alterative power sources other than coal.This is because 90% of the energy that Indiana is from coal.
KANSAS- Kansas City one of the top 25 greenest cities in the county. They recycle plastic, cardboard and aluminum, reuses wood when ever possible, and uses only 150,000 plastic bottles a year. These include that power companies must use 10% of the power from reusable souses by 2012. |
LOUISIANA-DM Articles gives tips on how to go green and to save money as well. After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is going green by recycling and putting solar panels on newly built homes.
