About Us

Charlotte:

I am a freshman in high school in New Hampshire, USA. I love reading, drawing, theater and computers.  For our site, I wrote articles, did editing and made the Idiom game on Flash.  This is my first time being a part of ThinkQuest. I’ve never done anything like it. It was amazing to put this together with people from across the world, and our meetings were always interesting and fun. I learned a lot about Flash, which I have never used before.  I also learned about extinct and dying languages, which I had never even thought about before.  It’s a very important and fascinating subject.  I would like to thank my coaches and teammates for being so amazing and making this a great site. I also want to thank my mom for letting me use her computer. It has been a fun and incredible experience for me, and I’m so happy to be a part of it.

Hannah:

My name is Hannah and I am a fifteen years old homeschooler living in New York, USA.  Math and science are my favorite subjects.  I researched and wrote a lot of the articles for this site.  My hobbies include karate, playing the piano, reading and writing.  It's been an amazing experience being a part of our ThinkQuest team, and my coaches and team members have been really great. I learned a lot about teamwork and I will never look at language in the same way again!

David:

My name is David and I live in New Hampshire, USA. I enjoy playing the violin and piano. I was the person in charge of designing our website and writing the music for it.  The best thing for me was the whole team approach and the fun weekly meeting.  Unlike an ordinary school project where it’s just you doing everything, ThinkQuest was group effort which allowed us to distribute the work evenly over a team of people, and see that what a team can do is so much more. Another awesome thing about ThinkQuest is that we got to work with people from different states and even countries! ThinkQuest brings people from different countries together, and helps kids really get down and start thinking about how they can help and improve the world in which they live. Thanks Oracle!

Ron:

I’m from Pennsylvania, USA and I really enjoyed being able to be on our Think quest team. Everyone was able to work together well and everyone had good ideas that were put to use in the site. I enjoyed the weekly meetings and being able to draw things to illustrate our site that may be seen all over the world. I enjoyed being on the team, being part of this effort, and getting to know my fellow team members. I hope that this site can be as helpful to the readers as it was educational and fun for me!

Abhiram:

My name is Abhiram and I am a thirteen year old boy from India. This is the first time I am working with a team outside India. My other team members are from United States and Australia. I worked as a researcher and writer. I enjoyed working on this team and the experience was thrilling. The topic about Languages was less familiar to me but as my research progressed I noticed a linguist taking birth inside me. Really, this is an unbelievable transformation. I am sure that projects like this can bring out hidden talents in many students. I have experienced that. Let me express my sincere thanks to the ‘ThinkQuest’ organizers for the good efforts taken by them. Above all, I express my gratitude to our coaches for leading us in such an excellent way.  Long live Team work.  Long live Think Quest.

Telisha:

I am Telisha and I am a 12 year old student from Adelaide in South Australia. I love listening to music on my mp3 player and I have a lot of songs. This is my first experience with ThinkQuest and I have enjoyed it a lot. I was so happy to be part of this team, even though it was hard for me to meet with them online. Mrs. Photakis kept me up to date with everything and she has been teaching my class all about ThinkQuest. I was the main interviewer for the team and it was the first time that I have ever been filmed interviewing someone for a website. I learned a lot about languages and I am glad that our website will help preserve languages around the world. I am glad that I had the chance to go into the ThinkQuest competition.

Mary:

My name is Mary Winchell. Tina Photakis and I co-coached this wonderful team together.  I have been involved in ThinkQuest since 2006 and I have found that each TQ competition is an incredible experience as this one has been. It is such a pleasure to see these students stretch themselves and grow in ways you would never expect. What they have achieved has been beyond my greatest expectations.  I wish to thank the team for all their hard work and cooperation. I also wish to also thank Oracle for sponsoring ThinkQuest and Adobe for providing the software for this project.

Tina:

I am Tina Photakis, a teacher from Adelaide in South Australia. Mary Winchell and I co-coached this amazing group of students from around the world. The topic of “Languages” is close to my heart as I have been a teacher of languages for over 25 years. It was exciting to watch this group of students grow in their ThinkQuest journey and to produce such an awe inspiring website, which will make a difference globally. Many of their contributions, from poems, artwork, music to interviews, were just incredible and we discovered quite a few hidden talents.

I have been involved with ThinkQuest since 2004 and I have found it to be an exciting opportunity for students to think outside the box and to extend themselves in areas that are of global importance. I am honored to have been involved with this fantastic group of students and I thank them for their hard work. I also thank the Oracle Education Foundation for organizing ThinkQuest, which is a mammoth task and Adobe for providing the website designing software free of charge for the students.
