JAL TARANG
Jal tarang or waves in water is an ancient musical instrument which produces a tinkling sound which is very pleasing to hear. The soft music is made by using china bowls filled with different levels of jal or water. These bowls are struck by 2 cane sticks to produce sound. Each bowl can be tuned to the desired frequency by varying the quantity of water in it. The bowls are arranged in a semi circle around the player and are played. A player can play classical ragas and also light melodies using this jal tarang. Water is indeed a very unique liquid. Though it is an essential substance for our survival we can also have loads of fun with it and also make pleasing music with it. Water here on earth is like the blessing of God in disguise.
