CELESTIAL WATER
Water, besides its other forms also comes hand in hand for the cultural purposes as we call them. Water is considered a very Holy liquid by almost all the mythologies. May be it is considered so because it is one of the five elements which make life possible on the planet, Earth. It may also indicate the rise of various ancient civilizations in the glorious pasts and also the prosperous cities and towns that developed the standard of living.
According to the various mythologies, there are almost six major celestial oceans considered to rule the heavens and the underworld, viz.

Oceanus: According to Greek mythology it was believed so that Oceanus was a single river that engulfed the whole of Earth. Oceanus was worshiped as a Titan who had the upper part of the body in the form of a muscular man and the lower part a serpent. Oceanus constituted the salt waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
- Ouranos: According to the Greek mythology it was believed so that Ouranos is the God of sky and also one of the celestial Oceans who gave birth to the Titans and Cyclops.
- Styx:Styx, according to Greek mythology was a river which bordered the Earth and the Underworld forming a marshland.
- Rasá.
- Samudra: Samudra is a Sanskrit word literally meaning ‘ocean’ or ‘gathering of the waters’. Its importance is elaborated in the Rig Veda of the Hindu mythology.
- Varuna: Varuna is believed to be the ‘God of the sky, the water and the underworld’ in the Vedic mythology. He then came to be believed as the ‘God of water mainly Oceans’.
Water has always been a part of any mythology as considered above and also Water has been playing an indispensable role in our present day lives too.
