Imagine a life without
computers - no games, no videos, nothing!! Horrifying, isn't it??!
The first computers were people. This title was originally given to people
whose job it was to compute and perform repetitive calculations, like in
making navigation charts for voyages, in astronomy, etc. People performed
the same calculations hour after hour, day after day. Tiresome, isn't it??
None of these calculations were absolutely accurate either, since manually
done calculations were bound to have mistakes. And computing took up a lot
of time.
Try dividing 22989 by 11.489, and then multiplying by 63.89.Over and over
again.. Well, this is what people had to do then, to make navigation chats
and the likes!! So inventors have been, for hundreds of years, trying to
develop a machine that would complete tasks assigned originally to people
much faster and more accurately.
Hence, the computer was born. This site, and the project we've undertaken,
shows the development of the computing machine from the simplest, the dust
abacus, somewhere around 3000 BC to the digital computers and super
computers they are today.
