Found in western Himalayas and states of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh

They live in high elevations. these solitary animals are most active at dawn and dusk. wild sheep and goats are its main prey

They are poached illegally for their pelts and use in medicine.

Human intrusion into the mountains results in the loss of their habitat and loss of prey.
