HABITAT: Found in  rivers with fast flowing waters and sandy banks.never moves far from  water except for basking and laying eggs. they are found in ganges, chambal and girwa rivers

HABIT: Helps maintain a healthy river system by  feeding on fish (including the dead ones).

REASONS: They are reducing in numbers because we are polluting the rivers, destroying their homes by sand mining, excessive fishing(destroying their prey) and hunting them for their skin.
