WATER AND INDUSTRY

Industry uses vast quantities of water. It takes 450,000 litres of water, for example, to make a small car and 60 litres of water to make a pair of shoes.

Water is used in power stations to turn the machines that produce electricity, and a lot of water is used to cool the machines in factories. Many car engines are cooled by water.

We also use water to dissolve other substances.
