The Pyramids of Giza

The pyramids of Giza are perhaps the only true rival to the Great Sphinx when one thinks of ancient Egypt and its architecture. The Valley of Giza-- with its wonderful monuments-- is truly a marvel of architectural prowess. The three largest pyramids located in the valley consist of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Kafhre and the Pyramid of Menkaura. Each Pyramid is a tomb dedicated to a different king of Egypt.

Temples

Writing an introduction to ancient Egypt temples is considerably more difficult then examining any specific structure, for a number of different reasons. First of all, the term "temple" is misleading, and secondly, the term covers a huge variety of different structures that evolved over such a vast period of time that many people have a difficulty comprehending  just how long a time this period spans.

Tombs

Since the majority of Ancient Egyptian findings are tombs, this may lead many of us to conclude that the Ancient Egyptians were obsessed with death. If one considers the fact that an estimated 150 to 200 million people died in Upper Egypt alone between the times of the Old Kingdom and the Roman Rule, one should conclude that a few hundred tombs along a strip of desert 450 miles long, is actually a small number by comparison.
