Church of Saint Mark College

Saint Mark College goes back to 1921 when the monks in charge of the administration of Saint Catherine School (Al Mansheya) decided that they need to construct a new school to accommodate the increasing number of students. They sought the permission of King Fouad to build a new school and at his agreement, work started on the new project in 1925 in an area devoid of any buildings in Shatbi
The school was inaugurated in 1928.

When St. Mark came to Alexandria in 62 A.D. he spread the Christian faith to its citizens and founded the Alexandrian throne which later became known as the Coptic Church,. The first Alexandrian who became Christian was a shoemaker by the name of Anianus.
