Meningitis or Meningococcal Diseases an infection of the fluid that surrounds the brain and is in the spinal
cord. There are two main types of meningitis:

  • viral
  • bacterial

The germ is carried in saliva and/or droplets from the nose of an infected person.
That means that kissing, sharing food, drinks, cigarettes, or other things that
might contain saliva can all pass the infection to others. The bacteria cannot live
long outside the human body, so the infections should not be considered as contagious.
