Group Reflections

After doing this Think Quest project, I have learnt more about blogs and social networking websites.I have learnt why students have to have blogs. Almost everyone have blogs in order to follow the trend. Through blogs, we can make friends, play games etc. Although blogs are getting popular among teenagers, we should be careful  when using blogs and social networking websites because it is very easy to publish private information to the computer,or we might search through other people’s blogs and find inappropriate content or discussions on topics that are not suitable for us to view.

How can we protect ourselves from the dangers of blogs? Cyberbullying,publishing of private or unreliable information, inappropriate content  are very common in blogs. When we are being bullied on the Internet, we should tell our parents, teachers or anyone trust-worthy immediately, or else it may get worse. The most important thing when using blogs and social networking websites is to keep your personal information safe.  Last but not least, I think teenagers should do their schoolwork firstbefore going online social websites and blogs, not to  slow down their schoolwork because of playing the computer.

After doing this project, I've learnt how to be receptive and commubicate well with the others. Compared with all those projects I'd done before in primary school, I discovered that my partners have all become more skilful and mature in collaboration with one another. This can be a genuine reflection of my personal growth as well. Newspaper report showed that more than one third of teenagers are "Net addictors". They spend more than 4 hours a day on playing computer games. Some of them even stay awake at night just for the sake of scoring higher in online games. Consequently, they neglect their studies and perform poorly in the school. Their relationship with their families in loose and some of them just reside in their virtual world. Their communication power with people deteriorates. These people have really gone too far. Internet is a great invention of the last century. Our standard of living is much improved because of it. With the Internet, there seems to be no distance between different parts of the world. Obviously, we will be benefited from it if we can use it sensibly.

After doing this project, I have learnt a lot more on using computers. We should be really careful when using blogs, since there are tons of people on the Internet and we do not know every one of them, Strangers may be harmful to us. Some of the strangers may treathen you on the Internet and insist you to give them your own personal information, so remember, NEVER , NEVER  give out any personal information!!
So, if you are one of the victims, remembernot to give out anything that is private and do not bully of cyberbully other kids that are smaller than you, the problem may turn out to be a lot more serious than you think!!!

Doing this meaningful project made me find out that we must have team spirit in order to finish something sucessful, and doing this cheerfully makes the progress of the whole thing easier.

After doing this project, I have learnt a lot about the advantages and disadvantages about social networking websites. Since social networking websites has been getting popular every year, we need to be careful when communicating with strangers during social networking. When they ask for our personal information, remember not to tell them, for it is very dangerous to do so. You can just tell about your feelings towards the website you are browsing or simply just don't tell them anything about yourself!

When I was doing the survey among my classmates, I found out that most of them have Facebook, Xanga or blogs just because of the trend. Some of them even say they normally spend three hours facing the computer, just for playing. From this information, we can predict that their homework and test will slant after a period of time and will sleep in class because they only spend time on computer games.

Lastly, I hope students will raise awareness when using social networking websites, do their homework and revision first before they have fun on the Internet.

After doing this project, I found that group team spirit is very important. In order to finish this project, we should co-operate at all times. Also, I have learnt the benefits and dangers brought by the blogs and social networking websites.
As I was doing the survey among students, I found that most of them have created an account in Facebook, Xanga and blogs. They created them as to follow the trend and to communicate. As more and more students play on the computers, I would like to do this topic to tell them how to protect themselves from the "dangerous parts" of the Internet.
When there are strangers asking our personal information on the Internet, we should avoid them. They use the Internet to deceit our money. Playing computers will also lead us to suicide, some students will use the Internet to gossip about others and when the one being gossiped knew it, he or she will be very depressed and may even commit suicide. Though there is such potential risks in using the Internet, its benefits are also undeniable. We could use the Internet to find information and ask for help. Also, we use the Internet to communicate with each other, which is more convenient. Moreover, Internet could be a good entertainment too.
Lastly, I would like to conclude that the Internet has advantages and disadvantages . We should be more careful when using the Internet and protect ourselves from the dangers.
