Homicides
The homicides of U.S. and Mexican citizens are often accompanied by kidnappings and torture. "There have been more than three hundred homicides in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua in the past two months", Armando Cabada reported on June 29, 2008 on the Channel 44 News. Violence of this magnitude is caused by drug cartels fighting for control, power, and the profits of the drug trade. (U.S. Dept of State) Although most people in our border communities are aware of the violence in the northern cities of Mexico, the family and business ties of many U.S. citizens still make it necessary to continue the visits to Mexico in spite of the risks.
