Welcome to ProjectGreen: Promoting Environmental Awareness

We, as human beings, are defined by the world we live in. We are responsible for our environment and it is our duty, not only to maintain it, but also to find a way to exist in harmony with other organisms without causing them any harm. In most, if not all cases it is because of human activity that the environment is getting affected. Thus, it automatically becomes our responsibility to take corrective measures and make up for the damage that we have caused. Unaware, we are doing more damage than good and even putting our own lives at stake.

Recent times have been full of calls for swift action, like the ailing economy and foreign affairs throughout the world. Recently elected President of the United States, Barack Obama, has stressed this for many areas. The environment is one at the forefront of these calls, and needs to be acted on soon before it gets out of hand and we are forced to watch Mother Nature crumble before our eyes. In his book, Imagining India: The Idea of a Renewed Nation, Nandan Nilekani, cofounder of Infosys, an Indian IT company based in Bangalore, talks about this need for action. He says that recently the environment “has morphed with disconcerting speed into a serious global concern.” But he knows it is still possible to prevent the problem growing and save our planet. “The challenges we face in environment and energy will only become a crisis if we choose to let them.”

Through ProjectGreen, we hope not only to spread awareness about some of the most critical problems faced by our planet, but also to spark an active effort to curb these issues. Our environment faces a colossal threat today. This can change, but we need decisive action from everyone. Not just the government; your efforts can have an effect far greater than theirs. After all, today’s is the people’s world, and we are the people. We hope our website rouses the conservationist within you, inspired to save our ailing planet.
