The giant squid has many predators. Some of them are sperm whales, Antarctic animals, humpback whales, and some sharks.
The sperm whale was thought to be the only animal to rely on the giant squid for food. The sleeper shark also appears to target the giant squid. French marine biologists opened the stomach of 36 sleeper sharks, accidentally killed, and found at least 8 giant squids.
Sleeper sharks are known as scavengers. They eat on the living or the dead. The sleeper shark is the only shark known to hunt the giant squid. Some biologists also found a large octopus in a sleeper shark.
