The giant squid will eat about 500 pounds of plankton and tiny plants. They eat shrimp, deep-sea fish, crab, shark, and any other sea animals that float free in the ocean. They’ll also eat other types of squids. Sometimes they eat sperm whales if they win the battle. Their tentacles are so big they can pull their food into their mouth. When the giant squid pulls the food into its mouth a sharp horn beak bites the food and cuts it up.
The giant squid is a carnivore. They use two long tentacles for eating and have a sharp beak to kill their prey and tear them into pieces that can be swallowed.
